Activation of the Sofia – Mumbai contacts





Business meetings with Indian companies, organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the India – Bulgaria Friendship Association were held at the Chamber. The event was organized with the assistance of the Indian – Bulgarian Business Chamber and the embassies of the two countries in Sofia and Delhi.

The event was opened by Tsvetan Simeonov, President of BCCI, who said that there is a noticeable intensification of the relations with India both at business and political level. “However, there is still untapped potential”, Simeonov explained.

The President of BCCI informed about the Chamber’s partnerships with the Indian – Bulgarian Business Chamber and the Balkan – Indian Business Association, as well as about many joint initiatives.

Jasbir Nischal, Secretary General of the India – Bulgaria Friendship Association, said that he has been promoting the development of the bilateral relations for more than 30 years. He expressed hope that such events would help strengthen the commercial and economic ties between the two countries.

Rajesh Lal, Second Secretary at the Embassy of India in Sofia, also said that Indian investments in Bulgaria have been growing, but there was still room for development of the bilateral relations.

After the official opening, b2b meetings were held with Indian companies representing the following sectors: tourism, hospitality, chemical industry, mining, legal services and consultancy, education, etc. The Indian companies expressed interest in opening branches of Bulgarian universities in India, purchasing hotels in Bulgaria, and cooperating with Bulgarian companies in the field of the chemical industry.

The event was organized with the support of Enterprise Europe Network at BCCI.
