The Ambassador of Armenia and the President of BCCI discussed setting up a joint council
The President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tsvetan Simeonov met with the Ambassador of Armenia H.E. Arsen Shoyan and representatives of the Embassy to discuss the idea of establishing a joint Bulgarian – Armenian Business Council. Mr. Simeonov referred to the excellent economic, historical and cultural relations between the two countries and said that BCCI will readily support the initiative. He proposed several options for its realization – registering an independent legal entity, which will deal with the bilateral relations or setting up a business council with BCCI. The main factor for success and sustainability of such organization, however, is the initiative of the companies participating in it.
The Council will be established for the purpose of encouraging contacts between small and medium-sized enterprises from Bulgaria and Armenia, intensifying bilateral trade and diversifying its structure. This is extremely important in the context of implementation of projects for transcontinental transport connections (corridor Europe – Caucasus – Asia) and other infrastructural projects.
According to Ambassador Shoyan, Armenian companies operating in our country express interest in the idea, and its realization is expected by mid 2012.
The Ambassador informed that Armenia maintains good relations with its neighbours and its economy has already adapted to the changes in the international economic framework in the past 20 years. The country has developed a sort of immunity to critical economic factors and manages to function without significant problems.
