Meeting with the newly-appointed Ambassador of Bulgaria to Israel

Discussion of the Bulgarian – Israeli economic relations in order to increase the volume of bilateral trade

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov met with the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the State of Israel – Rumyana Bachvarova.

Due to BCCI’s extremely active relations with partners from Israel - the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce, the Israel – Bulgarian, and the Bulgarian – Israel Chambers of Commerce, there are plenty of opportunities and forms of bilateral economic cooperation, Tsvetan Simeonov said during the meeting. In the last two years, BCCI has organized two visits to exhibitions in Israel in the field of water resources and ecology, and agriculture. Bulgarian companies from the concerned sectors got acquainted with the Israeli experience and found many partners.

During the meeting, the cooperation with Bulgaria’s Commercial and Economic Section in Tel Aviv, whose Head Mr. Kamen Minkov provides professional assistance to the Chamber and its members, was also discussed.

Rumyana Bachvarova shared the goals of her mission and agreed on enhanced cooperation in order to increase the volume of bilateral trade.

According to information from the Ministry of Economy, in recent years trade turnover between the Republic of Bulgaria and the State of Israel has developed dynamically, and higher volumes and diversification of the structure of trade have been registered compared to the previous decade, however further optimization and enrichment are possible in view of the export capacities of both countries.

The Association Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (CAA) with Israel, ratified by the European Parliament on 23 October 2012, which recognizes Israeli standards as equivalent to European ones, provides additional opportunities for increased mutual trade.
