General Assembly of ABC
BCCI passes on the presidency to Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry reported on the activities of the Association of Balkan Chambers /ABC/ at the Annual General Assembly of the Association, held in Sofia in the period 22 – 24 November 2011.
As Chairman of ABC for 2011, the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov made an overview of the work done during the year for his colleagues from the national chambers and unions of Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Cyprus, Serbia, Turkey, and Montenegro.
A number of important topics related to the activity of ABC, its members and companies in the respective countries were discussed. The participants in the General Assembly agreed on several important issues and adopted a declaration summarizing them and outlining the future priorities of ABC.
The Presidents of chambers of commerce and unions in ABC referred to the basic principles for establishment and functioning of business associations and chambers of commerce, drawn up by ICC WCF and CIPE.
They got acquainted to the main points in the European Danube Strategy and wholeheartedly supported the EU Small Business Act, also supported by EUROCHAMBRES.
The participants in the meeting of ABC attended a discussion about equality on the labour market, held on 22 November at BCCI. They also took part in the International Southeast Europe Forum on 22 November in Sofia.
The Chairman of Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry Phidias Pilides was elected Chairman of the Association of Balkan Chambers for 2012.
