Team of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on a visit at the Chamber



Representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and talked with the President Tsvetan Simeonov. The meeting was attended by Franklin Steeves, Senior Adviser on investment climate, Kim O`Salivan, Senior Legal Adviser, Gabriele Liotta, Analyst, and Larissa Manasterly, Director of the Office of the Bank for Bulgaria.

Among the topics discussed were the characteristics of the investment climate in the country at the moment, the difficulties faced by the Bulgarian and foreign investors, the reform in the field of public procurement, licensing procedures, administration of commercial arbitration and mediation, fair competition, the need for introduction of e-government and other topics within the scope of the observations of BCCI and EBRD.

The team of EBRD presented the opportunities for assistance from the Bank for improving the business environment and the corporate management in Bulgaria.

The President of the Chamber said that the views of the companies and organizations, members of BCCI are regularly examined on key issues related to the economic development of the country. BCCI stands by the view of the business, promoting transparency and calling for a more rapid implementation of the e-government.

The main areas requiring change are set out in the Guidelines for activities of BCCI adopted at the last General Meeting.
