Meeting with the First Ambassador of Malawi

 


BCCI received the First Ambassador of Malawi accredited for Bulgaria. On 21 October 2011 the Vice-President of BCCI Georgi Stoev met with H.E. Prof. Dr. Isaak Lamba, Ambassador of Malawi. The Ambassador is situated in Berlin, Germany and covers 23 more countries. He briefly presented Malawi as a country, which is a little larger than Bulgaria with area of 180 thousand sq. km. and population of 13.5 million people. The African country is experienced in agriculture, on which the entire economy of the country is based. The country produces tobacco, tea, sugar, cotton, coffee, corn, and other cereals. For the last 5 years, the country has had the potential to export agricultural raw materials and is looking for potential markets.

Ambassador Lamba emphasized that he regards the Republic of Bulgaria an important Eastern European partner. He informed that his country is looking for investors that will help organize the production of value added goods from the available agricultural raw materials. Mr. Stoev and his guest agreed to organize an information day about business opportunities in Malawi. Besides, BCCI will establish closer contacts and cooperation with Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

The need of Honorary Consul of Malawi to Bulgaria, who will help facilitate the relationships between the two countries on diplomatic and business level, was discussed.
