Enterprise Europe network to the BCCI organized a seminar on “Current sources for financing of the business”

Enterprise Europe Network to the BCCI organized a seminar on "Current sources of financing for SMEs", exclusively oriented to the business.

Specific financial instruments such as micro-credits, venture capital and accelerators were presented to the participants. They also received specific information about which banks, funds and other financial intermediaries.
Open calls for proposals under the EU framework programs and the eligibility of candidates were also discussed.
Particular attention was paid to the Horizon 2020 SME Instrument, designed for the most innovative and growing European companies. The attendees and the speakers discussed the reasons for no successful proposals from Bulgarian companies at this stage. The participants received guidelines on how to prepare a successful proposal and how to make self-assessment whether the tool is appropriate for them.

The Horizon 2020 pilot scheme Fast Track to Innovation was presented with a focus on the essential similarities and differences from the SME Instrument.

In the end of the seminar was presented an alternative, very promising and popular in the US and Western Europe source of financing for the business – the crowdfunding. The chances for success in a well-organized campaign are 40%, which is a revolutionary high level compared to the chances of companies to win a grant under the Instrument for SMEs (about 6%) or to receive a low-interest loan.

Lecturers on the topics:

Nikolai Angov – Financial instruments
Teodora Ivanova-Valeva – European programs and other donors
Eleonora Carnasa – SME Instrument and crowdfunding
Dimitar Hristov – Fast track to innovations
