One third of Bulgarian companies are owned or managed by women, said the Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Traycho Traykov in his opening speech to the forum on female entrepreneurship organized by the Bulgarian Association of Women Entrepreneurs and BPW Sofia. Among the official guests of the forum were H.E. Mrs. Judit Lang, Ambassador of Hungary to Bulgaria and winner of BCCI’s annual award for 2011 in the category “Ambassador”, and H.E. Mrs. Sheila Camerer, Ambassador of South Africa.
There is no doubt that women occupy a worthy place in all spheres of business and social life, and in some sectors have leadership positions. My personal observation is that they are better for example in the development and implementation of projects, said the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov at the forum. The 2nd International Forum on Female Entrepreneurship was organized by the Bulgarian Association of Women Entrepreneurs and International Women’s Club, Sofia.
Entrepreneurship fits well in the life choices of women, as it gives them the necessary flexibility to combine personal and professional life, especially in terms of work place and working hours. Besides, many women who due the economic crisis became unemployed could use their knowledge and skills to start their own companies and create their own jobs. Increasing the number of women entrepreneurs will provide more economic opportunities to women and will contribute to achieving growth.
Tsvetan Simeonov informed the participants of the initiatives for development of female entrepreneurship organized by the Association of Balkan Chambers (ABC), which in 2011 was presided by BCCI. At the recently held in Istanbul First Meeting of Women Entrepreneurs from the Balkan countries, under the auspices of ABC, an ambitious programme to encourage business leadership among ladies and promote their active presence in managerial positions in the business and public world was adopted.
At the Istanbul summit Radka Stamenova, President of the Bulgarian Association of Women Entrepreneurs proposed for discussion the topic of female entrepreneurship and her idea to set up a partnership network and portal for female entrepreneurship.
As a member of Eurochambres, BCCI also supports the cause of women’s entrepreneurship.
