At BCCI the latest meeting of the Club of Joint and Foreign Chambers in Bulgaria was held. The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov discussed various topics with representatives of 9 other organizations working in support of businesses from Bulgaria and the respective foreign countries (Albania, Turkey, Romania, Great Britain, Slovenia, USA, Japan, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, etc.).

The activities of the Innovation Council with BCCI, established in May 2011, were presented. Yosif Avramov, Co-Chairman of the Council explained that the organization unites more than 60 persons and legal entities: entrepreneurs from the large, small and medium-sized business, sectorial organizations and representatives of the scientific circles – the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and universities. He paid special attention to the JEREMIE initiative, which has already made a name as important innovative tool for financial engineering. The investment funds NEVEQ, Bulgaria Mezzanine Capital and AXXCESS capital were also presented.

Mr. Simeonov informed his colleagues of the expected amendments to the Labour Code concerning the representativeness of employers’ organizations in Bulgaria. He stressed the need for synchronization of Bulgarian legislation with the best international and European practices in this area.

The President of the Bulgarian – Albanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bozhidar Todorov presented the Chamber’s mission and goals. According to him, the Chamber supports Bulgarian businessmen in establishing their first contacts on the Albanian market so that they can successfully find their way in the country. The organization, which was founded last year, aims to be a reliable partner of Bulgarian companies by uniting representatives of the real business with the respective experience and knowledge of the local market, business services, approaches and the specific characteristics of Albanian business.

During the meeting it was agreed to continue the practice of presenting the members of the Club and their mission, vision, goals, specific activities and upcoming events.

With regard to the rigorous requirements for issuance of Bulgarian visas to businessmen from third countries, the President of BCCI explained that the Chamber has adopted the following approach: if foreign businessmen without Bulgarian partners wish to visit our country, BCCI invites the companies after obtaining a reference from the respective foreign or joint chamber.

The issue of problems met by foreign citizens passing through our country with Schengen visas was raised. Obviously, experience shows that border guards do not have complete information about the conditions of transit within 72 hours.

In conclusion, the participants agreed that the Club of Joint and Foreign Chambers will meet more often and in fuller body in 2012.
