Charge d’affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Libya visited BCCI
The first official visit of the Charge d’affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Libya in Bulgaria Issa Ashur to a Bulgarian institution took place at BCCI. Ambassador Ashur met with the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov. The Honorary Consul of Jordan to Bulgaria Dr. Hassan Barmaui was also present at the meeting.
Tsvetan Simeonov presented his vision for wider economic cooperation with Libya, stressing that BCCI and our country support the democratic development of Libya, which is a long-standing trade partner of our country.
Ambassador Ashur overviewed the events from the previous months. After 8 months of war the entire infrastructure of Lybia has been destroyed. The country needs to reconstruct its roads, hospitals, schools, railroads and airports. For this it will rely on the assistance of its foreign partners, including Bulgaria.
Initiatives to promote bilateral economic cooperation were discussed and in particular the upcoming visit to Bulgaria of the President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Crafts in Libya, together with businessmen from the Arab country, which is expected in the second half of January. A draft of Cooperation Agreement between BCCI and the Federation was presented.
In conclusion, the President of BCCI outlined the sectors of interest to Bulgarian companies – construction, agriculture, trade and tourism.
