Intergenerational learning - focus of a project implemented by BCCI

CVETNET project, financed by ERASMUS+ programme, aimed to reskill and upskill the SMEs managers and employees in order to adapt them to digital transformation. The first stage of the project implementation is related to the collection of best practices in VET developed by taking into account the different generations, their different ways of working, communicating, values and digital gaps.

The Institute for Economic Promotion of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WIFI-WKO), partner of the project, provided good practices for successful models such as:

Reverse Mentoring

In reverse mentoring, the roles of classic mentoring are reversed: the junior coaches the senior on the  topics that the young can do better than the old. The aim of reverse mentoring is to increase the overall digital fitness in the company, to adapt old communication and working methods to the requirements of the digital era and to familiarise older colleagues and managers with the world of the millennium.

Digital Competence model

The model is a WKO-wide development framework for digital competencies of employees. It describes the six areas: digital production, communication and collaboration, IT security, digital awareness, information literacy and specific competencies.

Multiplier training

Improvement of the digital competence through training and use of online tools such as: Online surveys (PollEverywhere, Surveymonkey ...), Doodle (appointment coordination), Stormboard (interactive tool to work in a group), Plickers (instant feedback), Padlet (collaborative tool to collect ideas), Wordcloud (graphical representation of terms), Bubble.us (collaborative mind mapping), Kahoot (online quizzes via smartphone), Free media (Creative Commons, image databases)

Demogrhaphy check

The online demography check of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber provides a quick overview of the age structure in a company in just a few steps. With the help of the Demography Check the entrepreneur can determine the current personnel structure of his company as well as gain an overview of future developments. It is of great importance that companies recognize demographically induced challenges early on and take them into account in their planning in HR recruitment.
