The Bulgarian Ambassador to Mexico visited BCCI

H.E. Valentin Modev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Mexico, visited BCCI and met with the Chamber’s President Tsvetan Simeonov. The state of the bilateral commercial and economic relations was the main topic of discussion.

During the meeting, the unsatisfactory level of development of the bilateral trade was noted, despite the successful examples of offering Bulgarian cosmetics, light industry and machine-building products on the Mexican market. Tsvetan Simeonov discussed with his guest that both countries need to make more efforts, both at the level of chambers of commerce and industry, and at governmental level, to utilize the full potential of the bilateral economic relations.

So far, two Bulgarian companies have invested in Mexico in the tourism and engineering sectors, Modev said. There are other opportunities for more active trade and economic relations in the field of agriculture - export of sunflower oil, wines, import of tropical fruits, production of refrigerating equipment, tourism, etc. Ambassador Modev pointed out that there are great opportunities for Bulgarian companies in the Central American countries, and in particular in Costa Rica, Panama, and Guatemala. In addition to them, the Bulgarian Embassy in Mexico is also responsible for Nicaragua, Honduras and Belize.

The BCCI President agreed with Ambassador Modev to undertake actions to exchange business delegations from the two chambers of commerce and industry, to organize a business conference with bilateral business meetings, and to intensify the exchange of economic information in both directions.
