Bulgarian – Zambian Business Forum organized by BCCI took place at the Chamber

The two countries have common interests in sectors such as production of renewable energy, mining, food industry




At BCCI, a Bulgarian – Zambian Business Forum organized by the Chamber with the Assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Paris, accredited for Bulgaria, was held. The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov opened the forum and stressed the importance of the event, as it was the first similar joint event held in the last forty years. The two countries have common interests in sectors such as production of renewable energy, mining, food industry.

Mr. Simeonov pointed out that one of the goals of the Bulgarian Government used to be 16% of all the electricity produced by Bulgaria to come from renewable energy sources, and now almost 20% of the produced energy is renewable.

H.E. Humphry Chibanda, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zambia said that many Zambian citizens are connected with our country, as they have received their higher education in Bulgaria in disciplines such as medicine and agriculture.

In recent years, Zambia has become an attractive place for foreign investment. The world agencies also recognize the country’s good position in comparison to the other African countries: it ranks 8th by competitiveness of the economy on the continent, and according to the “Forbes” classification ranks 7th among the best countries for doing business in Africa.

Chibwe Chisala, First Secretary Economic and Trade Affairs at the Embassy of Zambia gave a presentation on the investment climate and business opportunities in Zambia.

The forum continued with presentation of the investment climate in Bulgaria by Svetoslav Gatev, Expert at InvestBulgaria Agency. The event ended with a discussion between the participants.
