Bulgarian-Indonesian business forum in Sofia

A Bulgarian-Indonesian Business Forum took place in Sofia with the participation of 10 Indonesian companies and over 60 representatives of Bulgarian business. The Indonesian Embassy in Sofia, in cooperation with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, organized the event. The Secretary General of BCCI Mr Vasil Todorov took part in Forum and underlined the excellent relations with the diplomatic mission of Indonesia in Sofia and partners from Indonesia. Holding of annual business meetings and forums is an indication of continued interest in deepening bilateral cooperation.
 
His Excellency Bunian Saptomo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in our country, introduced the delegation composed of members of the government, local government and business. He shared the view that there is great interest in enhancing bilateral trade, which in 2014 amounted to USD 81.7 million. He informed the attendee that his country would undertake the construction of more than 300 seaports across Indonesia over the next 10 years. There is a plan to construct railway lines on the larger islands, and several airports.
 
Mr Lyuben Petrov, Deputy Minister of Economy in Bulgaria confirmed the support of the State in promoting trade and economic relations with Indonesia. The leading country within ASEAN has a market of more than 200 million consumers. Mr Lyuben Petrov emphasized the assistance and support that the State provides to investors.
 
Presentations delivered the Mayor of Maran located on the island of Java, the representative of an Indonesian company, food producer with market experience in Bulgaria and the European Union, as well as the Executive Director of the Invest Bulgaria Agency Mr Stamen Yanev.
 
The delegation will visit also other cities and towns in Bulgaria - Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Bansko, envisaging opening of an Indonesian business center in our seaside capital. The Forum participants were invited to support the establishment of a joint Bulgarian-Indonesian Business Association.
