The BCCI conferred its Annual Awards at an official ceremony
For the 21st consecutive year leading companies in the Bulgarian economy were honoured by the Chamber
In the presence of ministers, members of Parliament, diplomats and business representatives the BCCI conferred its Annual Awards for the 21st time. The ceremony took place at the Sofia Hotel Balkan on 2nd December 2014.
In his address to the audience the President of the BCCI’s Board of Directors Tsvetan Simeonov described the year 2014 as difficult for the global economy and Bulgaria. “There were threats as regards some financial institutions and these issues were complicated owing to the sluggishness of some competent authorities”, said the BCCI’s President. He noted that on the eve of 2015 Bulgaria has a regular parliament and a new government, albeit an unusually wide range of involved parties.
“Despite the shortcomings and the criticisms directed towards the current government, Bulgaria has nonetheless maintained low taxes and favorable positions in some international rankings”, said Simeonov. He reiterated that the BCCI in conjunction with the counterpart social partners had come up with a concerted joint project concentrating on the priorities for the country's development. “Let me once again declare that the BCCI has always been and will be a constructive partner to any government with the view of achieving better conditions for doing business in Bulgaria”, said the Chamber’s President.
“You can count on us being a constructive partner to the Chamber and the Bulgarian entrepreneur”, said the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova during the ceremony. She noted that the first step in the Government’s programme was the adoption of the state budget for the year 2015 in order to ensure a stable financial policy and system. Parts of the efforts of the government are directed towards stabilizing the banking system, undertaking the necessary legislative changes and administration actions for alleviation of the "burden on business", as well as computerization at the utmost of the services provided to businesses and the general public.

In the Category “AMBASSADOR” the Chamber awarded the HERMES Bronze Statuette and an Honorary Diploma to H.E. Mr. Guillermo AZRAK, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to the Republic of Bulgaria for his outstanding contribution to the development of the bilateral economic relations.
In the Category “FOREIGN COMMERCIAL COUNSELOR” the Chamber awarded the HERMES Bronze Statuette and an Honorary Diploma to Mr. Thomas BRUNS, Senior Commercial Officer at the Embassy of the United States of America to the Republic of Bulgaria for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of the economic co-operation between Bulgaria and the USA.
In the Category “MEDIA” the Chamber awarded a PLAQUE and an Honorary Diploma to the BULGARIAN NATIONAL TELEVISION for objective presentation of BCCI’s role as the biggest national employer organization in the business life of the country, for reflection of the positions of the Chamber’s members on topical issues and regular broadcasting of news about BCCI’s daily activities.
In the Category “JOURNALIST” the Chamber awarded a PLAQUE and an Honorary Diploma to Ms. Marina TSEKOVA, Journalist, Nova, for objective reflection of BCCI’s positions and of its members on current business topics, with a distinct attention to the problems of Bulgarian entrepreneurs and the role of the Chamber in defending their interests.
The guests had the opportunity to taste the products in the exhibition organized by the following companies: Bessa Valley Winery, Winery Manastira, Todoroff Boutique Wine Cellar, Gradsko selo, Bakery and Confectionery, Karol Fernandez Meat-KFM, Vranovo, Bulgarian Wine Export Association, Logodaj Winery, Villa Melnik Winery, Kapatovo, Marash Winery.
