Macedonian-Bulgarian Business Days took place in Stip and Kocani, Macedonia
Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Development of Bulgaria Daniela Bobeva and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Macedonia Zoran Stavreski opened on 23rd June 2014 the Macedonian-Bulgarian Business Days that were taking place in Stip and Kocani, Macedonia. The event was organized by the Macedonian-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Stip Municipality.
Both Prime Ministers expressed their willingness and intention to accelerate the construction of road infrastructure between the two countries and open new border check-points. "We shall focus on improving the entire road infrastructure that links Macedonia to Bulgaria, both in terms of roads and in terms of railways", said Stavreski. The need to open a regular airline Sofia-Skopje was also subject to discussion.
Daniela Bobeva stressed that there is much greater potential for joint trading and emphasis should be placed on joint appearance on third countries markets. Asian tourists interested in cultural and historical heritage may be allowed to visit both the countries.
BCCI’s President Tsvetan Simeonov made suggestion that Macedonian enterprises and companies regularly attend business events organized by the Chamber in Sofia. The distance between Stip and Sofia takes about two hours and a half, which quite facilitates the participation of Macedonian companies into forums in Sofia.
The President of the Joint Chamber Zoran Temelkovski voiced hope that trade exchange between Bulgaria and Macedonia shall double to reach EUR 1 billion per year.
Among the participants in the event were also the President of the Macedonian Chamber of Commerce Branko Azeski, the two Ambassadors, diplomats, business representatives and officials by the local authorities of Petrich, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, etc.
