Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Vratsa – 2 decades in service to local business

 

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Vratsa celebrated the 20th anniversary of its establishment. At present, the Chamber is developing over 10 projects, while over 100 projects were completed for the entire period. Annually the Chamber provides support and assistance to an average of 850 companies in the region.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Vratsa was registered on 19th November 1991. Among its founders were Ivo Vladimirov – the first President of the Chamber until 1996, and the present Executive Director Iliana Filipova. In addition to business, the Chamber works actively in close cooperation with representatives of the local authorities and other non-governmental organizations, as well as with foreign NGOs and Chambers of Commerce.

Some the most significant events in the 20-year history of the Chamber include:

- 1999 – Euro Info Center with the Chamber was established, serving business in the region;
- 2000 – Center for Woman Entrepreneurship was opened, which assisted 20 women in realizing their business dream and receiving funding for it. At the moment, 16 of them are still active on the market;
- 2002 – CCI - Vratsa became part of the network of Centers for Vocational Trainingl; 
- 2008 – Center “Europe Directly” was opened, providing consultations to citizens and institutions on European issues.

For its outstanding contribution to establishing the system of chambers in Bulgaria and for the support it has provided to developing business in the past 20 years, CCI - Vratsa received an Honorary Diploma from Ivan Tabakov, President of Varna Trade and Industrial Chamber, Certificate and Plaque from the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov and bronze statuette 'Hermes' from the Secretary general of CCI - Dobritch.

The Chamber was also awarded with a special certificate by the Minister of Finance for the project “Cooperation and Improvement of Administrative Capacity of Regional Authorities”, implemented jointly with the Regional Administration - Vratsa. The project is one of the top three projects in Bulgaria under OPAC for the entire programme period.

According to the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov, by its achievements the Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Vratsa has outdistanced the abilities and the level of business in the region in which it works, for which the entire team of experts of the Chamber has credit.
