Eurochambres: Let’s assist SMEs in better realizing their potential on the global scene
EUROCHAMBRES welcomes the initiative of the European Commission from 9th November 2011 “Small business, big world – a new partnership to help SMEs seize global opportunities”.
Only 13% of European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are engaged in international activity outside the European Union through trade, investment and other forms of cooperation with foreign partners. Therefore, EUROCHAMBRES calls for a more coherent and effective EU strategy for internationalization of European SMEs. This can be achieved by bettering the services provided to businesses, real implementation of public-private partnership, improving coordination and utilization of available resources. By realizing their potential on the global scene, SMEs will contribute to promoting growth and jobs creation.
“The Commission’s idea of joining efforts with existing stakeholders for the internationalization of SMEs and multiplication of the effects of existing EU policies in this area is valuable. The EU Chamber network, employing 3800 experts in internationalization and supporting over 1 million SMEs trading abroad each year, wants to continues to play its role”, commented Secretary General of EUROCHAMBRES Arnaldo Abruzzini.
BCCI supports the initiative and will develop its services for internationalization of SMEs. Special attention will be paid to establishing contacts and partnerships with fast developing new markets such as China, India, Russia and regions such as Southeast Asia and Latin America. As a host of the “Enterprise Europe Network”, BCCI will provide SMEs better access to information about international markets, such as binding rules of contract law, customs regulations, technical regulations and standards, management of technology transfer and protection of intellectual or industrial property.
