The President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tsvetan Simeonov held an urgent working meeting with his counterpart from the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gennadiy Chyzhykov. The meeting was also attended by Mykhailo Harmash, Commercial Counselor at the Embassy of Ukraine in Sofia.
Simeonov received up-to-date information on the situation in Ukraine and its economy. It was agreed to speed up the measures, including economic ones, aimed at helping the country which is in a state of war. Chyzhykov stressed the need for assistance to distribute Ukrainian agricultural products, as well as metal raw materials and metal products made in the country. Tsvetan Simeonov clarified that despite the difficulties, the deliveries of these goods through the Bulgarian Black Sea and river ports must be accelerated. Therefore, it is necessary for the relevant state bodies from Bulgaria and Ukraine to agree on practical steps to facilitate the movement of the various exported products and raw materials.
Another topic discussed during the meeting was the possibility to relocate Ukrainian businesses to Bulgaria. Chyzhykov explained that this will not happen quickly, but both chambers are constantly available to provide assistance in this regard. Simeonov confirmed that the Bulgarian-Ukrainian Industrial Chamber with BCCI is also ready to provide support.
The President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry reiterated his request, originally submitted through the Association of the European Chambers of Commerce and Industry EUROCHAMBRES, to support regional CCIs in Ukraine and encouraged Bulgarian regional chambers to contact the national organization and to lend a hand to the chambers of Mykolaiv Oblast, Odessa, Donetsk, etc., which need help. It can be in the form of cooperation under various projects, mentoring, financial support, etc.
Tsvetan Simeonov and his guest agreed to organize a joint online event for the benefit of companies from both countries.
