New Commercial Representative of the Embassy of the Russian Federation Introduced at BCCI

On 31 May 2011, Mr. Igor Ilingin, the new Commercial Representative of the Russian Federation to Bulgaria met with the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov.

Mr. Ilingin got acquainted with the work of the Chamber and the real problems which businesses from the two countries face, such as visa obstacles – BCCI has insisted on removing visas for Russian tourists; highly unbalanced trade between the two countries – the trade in gas and oil prevails; energy cooperation with unclear parameters, etc.

Mr. Simeonov underlined that Bulgaria highly appreciates Russian investments in the country. He also said that during the winter season 2010-2011 the number of Russian tourists who visited Bulgarian mountain resorts increased.

Possibilities for future cooperation were also discussed.
