Boosting business between Bulgaria and the Netherlands

Pieter van Vliet, advisor (Deputy Head of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Bulgaria), and Jan Rinzema coordinator for Bulgaria at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited BCCI and met with the President of the Chamber Tsvetan Simeonov. They’ve discussed the opportunities to boost bilateral trade and economic relations.

Pieter van Vliet said that though according to statistical data the Netherlands rank among the leading investors in Bulgaria, there is still untapped potential. In this regard, the Embassy has undertaken a number of meetings with the aim of strengthening cooperation between Bulgarian and Dutch companies.

Tsvetan Simeonov presented the BCCI database, the network of Regional Chambers, as well as the achievements in the Trade Register and the fully digitized system of the Arbitration Court. He has marked the three major adverse factors influencing the Bulgarian economy: bureaucracy, "dynamic" legislation and access to funding. Possible solutions were outlined, including e-government.

The tax system in Bulgaria, the current situation in the energy sector and in sectors of mutual interest were also among the topics of the meeting.
