BCCI hosted the first international commercial arbitration moot in Sofia
The team of Skopje University and the student from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Staniela Todorova won the first international commercial arbitration moot held in Sofia (FIRST SOFIA VIS PRE-MOOT) which took place at BCCI on Febryary 27 – March 1, 2015. The event was organized as part of the celebrations on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and was organized in cooperation with the International Moot Court Competitions Association. The moot in Sofia hosted by BCCI was a preparation for the biggest international private law competition in the world Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, which is held annually in Vienna, Austria.
A seminar dedicated to arbitration proceedings gave a start to the competition on Friday, which was opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Christian Takoff, President of the Arbitration Court at BCCI. He welcomed the guests and presented the activity and the innovations of the Arbitration Court at the Chamber.
Five teams took part in the competition: three teams from Bulgaria; one team from Macedonia – the University of Skopje and one team from Romania – the University of Targu Mures. 18 competition rounds were held on Saturday and Sunday and were extremely useful to prepare the participants for the next rounds in Vienna in the end of March.
