Employers and Trade Unions: Budget update is the responsibility of the next government

Despite the opinion of the social partners, the Cabinet approved a draft law amending the Law on the State Budget of the Republic of Bulgaria for 2014. Earlier, at a meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation (NCTC) trade unions and employers demanded the withdrawal of the project.

Is there any department that has not requested budget increase; along with the requested increases, what are the indications for the improvement of the work; should not the burden on firms and individuals be limited; is there such a line in the state budget, in which savings shall be provided; why there have been no funds provided for repayment to business? - These were some of the questions raised by the President of the BCCI – Tsvetan Simeonov, at the NCTC discussion on the proposed by the Caretaker Cabinet update of the state budget for 2014. He also insisted on improving the work of the supervisory bodies.

“We appreciate the efforts of the Caretaker government to prepare an expert quick start of the budget updating procedure. At the same time, a radical review of the budget, especially in that significant size as suggested, may be undertaken only at the initiative of a functioning government and effective National Assembly after holding the pro-term elections on October 5, 2014".This was stated in the joint letter of the six nationally representative employers' organisations and trade unions, deposited in the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation on October 1, 2014.
