Presentation of opportunities for business cooperation between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan





The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a round table discussion on "Presentation of business opportunities between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan", organized in cooperation with the Bulgaria - Uzbekistan Friendship Society.

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov welcomed the delegation from Uzbekistan and emphasized that the visit comes at a time when the restrictions due to Covid-19 are being lifted thus allowing for the smooth recovery of contacts and cooperation between the two countries. He shared information about the partnership between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan at the level of chambers of commerce and business organizations. The volume of bilateral trade is modest, but has the potential to be increased, Simeonov said. The President of BCCI informed the Uzbek guests - representatives of public and private organizations that 18 companies with capital from Uzbekistan are already registered at BCCI, as well as 18 commercial representation offices of Uzbek companies. He made a detailed overview of the opportunities and information that BCCI offers to companies in order for them to be confident in their international trade relations.

Prof. Toshko Krastev, Chairman of the Bulgaria-Uzbekistan Friendship Society, also addressed the participants in the meeting and expressed hope that the support of the two states, chambers of commerce and business will once again yield results in the bilateral economic relations.

Turanbek Makhamatdinov, representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan informed that the organization intends to open a representative office in Bulgaria, which will support the deepening of economic ties. "Our potential for cooperation in tourism, and particularly seaside holidays in Bulgaria, is enormous”, Makhamatdinov noted, adding that Bulgaria is a desired vacation destination by his fellow countrymen, also because of the cultural and historical closeness.

Invest Bulgaria Agency presented the economic environment in the country and the sectors it can boast of, including ICT, automotive industry, mechatronics, etc.

The event was attended by over 30 representatives of institutions and entrepreneurs from Bulgaria and Uzbekistan with interests in the following areas: alcohol, tobacco and viticulture development, light industry, IT, financial instruments and payment systems, international trade, tourism.
