Intensifying business cooperation with Rwanda

H.E. James Gatera, Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to Israel accredited for Bulgaria, visited BCCI and spoke with the Chamber’s President Tsvetan Simeonov.

The guest got acquainted with the activities of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in support of the business community, with a focus on the Chamber’s digital services. BCCI was among the first 11 countries worldwide that became members of the International Certificate of Origin Accreditation Chain with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC-Paris). Attention was also paid to BCCI’s achievements in the field of commercial arbitration using new technologies, and its participation in various international organizations.

During the meeting, the Ambassador presented Rwanda as a country on the African continent applying the best market principles. An example of this is the registration of a foreign company in the country, which only takes entrepreneurs about 6 hours.

In Rwanda there is great interest in Bulgarian goods and services in the following sectors:

  • Machinery for processing of agricultural products;
  • Machinery and equipment for leather processing;
  • Import of Bulgarian wine;
  • Production of spare parts for the automotive industry;
  • Small water generators;
  • Footwear industry.

By entering Rwanda’s market, Bulgarian companies gain access to duty free trade with the 300-million-market of the East African Community countries.

It was agreed that BCCI together with the team of the Embassy and the Rwanda Development Board will organize an online forum dedicated to the latest developments in doing business and investing in Rwanda.
