BCCI assists Sofia Municipality in speeding up the waste treatment project

The President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov discussed the implementation of the project for treatment of Sofia’s wastes with the Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality, Ms. Maria Boyadzhiyska during a meeting held at the Chamber. “We will provide assistance to significantly speed up the completion of Sofia Municipality’s project and the reporting on the work done in the past several years”, Mr. Simeonov said.
The Project includes installations for plant waste composting and household waste composting from which organic fertilizers, fuels and energy will be produced. The selected technology allows for up to 30% of the basic volume of wastes to remain stored in a depot, the Deputy Mayor Ms. Maria Boyadzhiyska explained. Everything else can be reused, both in industry and agriculture, and in the energy sector.

During her visit to BCCI, Ms. Boyadzhiyska who is in charge of green systems, ecology and land use, was introduced to the green area in front of BCCI’s headquarters downtown, which the employees of the Chamber look after personally. Ms. Boyadzhiyska was informed of the upcoming second edition of the Bio&Eco Expo 2011 for healthy foods, beverages, products and technologies. Through the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov extended an invitation to the Mayor of Sofia Ms. Yordanka Fandakova to participate in the opening and viewing of the exhibition.
