The Bulgarian employers presented their report during the 107th session of the International Labour Conference

Accelerating reforms in education, healthcare and labour legislation – among the priorities of Bulgarian employers




The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov and Miroslava Markova, Chief Expert “International Cooperation and International Organizations”, took part in the official opening of the 107th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva on 28th May.

Miroslava Markova presented the report on behalf of the Association of Bulgarian Employers’ Organizations during the session of the International Labour Conference. The main focus of the speech was the topic of the report of ILO Director-General Guy Ryder on gender equality at work. Markova said that Bulgarian employers support and contribute to gender equality. She noted the fact that Bulgaria climbed 10 positions in 2017 and ranked 15thaccording to the Gender Equality Index at the EU level. The country occupies first place in the European Union by number of women employed in the IT sector, with a share of 26.5% compared to an average share of 17.2% in the EU.

In the limited speaking time, the priorities of Bulgarian employers were also presented, among which quick introduction of e-Government, accelerating the reforms in education, healthcare and labour legislation. The report of the Bulgarian employers’ organizations is available HERE.

This year, the International Labour Conference, also known as “the parliament of labour”, is held in the period 28 May – 8 June 2018. More than 5700 delegates from the governments, employers’ organizations and trade unions of 187 ILO member-states will discuss some of the most pressing issues facing the world of labour.

BCCI will take part in the work of the committee “Efficient ILO development cooperation in support of the sustainable development goals”.
