Spanish Chambers of Commerce Are Going through Changes

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Bulgarian met with the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov and the President of the Bulgarian-Spanish Business Council with the BCCI, Mr. Dimitar Pampulov.

Mr. Simeonov introduced H.Ex. Rafael Mendívil Peydro to the work of the Chamber and explained BCCI’s relations with its partner organizations in Spain. BCCI’s relations with chambers of commerce from the Iberian Peninsula are based on mutual contacts, as well as on the relations within the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry – EUROCHAMBRES. The Chambers of Commerce of Spain are going through changes, related to the change of membership – from obligatory to voluntary. In one year, Spanish chambers will have to function without the state funding they have received until now.
Mr. Pampulov introduced the Bulgarian-Spanish Business Council established in 2003 in order to promote bilateral relations, to encourage investments of Spanish companies in Bulgaria and to assist Bulgarian companies which look for Spanish partners.
During the meeting upcoming joint events were discussed, among which several visits of Spanish companies from Madrid, Saragossa and Bilbao to Bulgaria in the second half of 2011. The aim of the events will be to encourage bilateral cooperation in the sectors infrastructure, construction, agriculture, trade, etc. As the Bulgarian-Spanish Business Council proposed, BCCI will host a round table on the perspectives for Spanish investments in our country in September/October this year.
