The New Ambassador of the Czech Republic visited BCCI
On 25 May 2011, the new ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bulgaria, H.E. Pavel Vacek and the First Secretary, Head of Commercial Section of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Sofia, Juraj Melioris visited BCCI.
BCCI’s President, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov presented the work of the Chamber and outlined the main characteristics of Bulgarian economy. He underlined the desire to balance Bulgaria’s foreign trade with the Czech Republic. Last year Bulgaria export increased significantly and reached the record EUR 146.36 million. Traditionally, Bulgaria’s trade balance is negative, but there is a tendency to balance the trade between the two countries. BCCI’s President and the Ambassador of the Czech Republic agreed that the level of bilateral trade is below its potential and the structure of trade can be diversified.
Czech investments in Bulgaria were discussed as well. Along with the major Czech investors, Ambassador Vacek said there were several cases of Czech companies that invested in our country but faced problems such as regional administration, bad communication, etc. Mr. Simeonov undertook to look into those cases and to assist solving them.
