Meeting with the Ambassador of Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador accredited to Bulgaria H.E. Pamela Deen visited BCCI on 26 May 2011 and met with its Vice President Mr. Georgi Stoev.

The Ambassador shared information about the constant progress of Sri Lanka since 2004, when the country was hit by a tsunami wave. A new harbour and a new airport are being built south of the capital city Colombo. The roads and infrastructure in the north part of the country are being wholly reconstructed.
Mr. Stoev shared the positive impressions and expectations with which the Bulgarian companies that took part in the business delegation to Sri Lanka organised by BCCI in 2009 were left. He informed that Bulgarian companies can offer cooperation in the following areas: hotels and restaurants, cooperation between SMEs providing services, construction, etc. According to Mr. Stoev, Bulgaria is the ideal place to outsource various manufactures, because in this way the produce can acquire European origin and can be distributed in EU member-states.
H.E. Pamela Deen said that companies from her country have a lot of potential in the fields of new technologies, IT, software, textile industry, production of educational games and toys, etc.
She also said that in 2015 the 15th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Sri Lanka will be marked. With regard to this, a number of events will be held. The two parties agreed that BCCI will take part in the anniversary programme by organising a business event.
