The newly-appointed Ambassador of Bulgaria to the Federal Republic of Nigeria H.E. Veselin Delchev met with the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov. During the meeting the future cooperation between the Chamber and the Bulgarian Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria in order to help entrepreneurs from both countries find new business partners and expand the bilateral cooperation was discussed.
Tsvetan Simeonov introduced the guest to the various activities and services provided by BCCI, including the Chamber’s Trade Register, Arbitration Court, etc.
Ambassador Delchev reported that Nigerian companies have expressed interest towards cooperation in the field of food industry and renewable energy.

Bilateral trade report*

Over the last few years Bulgarian exports to Nigeria consist mainly of steel rods, power transformers, electric batteries, corn, dish-washing machines, petroleum oils, etc.
Imports from Nigeria have been insignificant lately and consist mainly of cotton yarns, containing at least 85% cotton, unprocessed aluminium, cocoa mass, etc.
Potentially exportable goods for the Nigerian market are:
Petroleum products and oil – paradoxically the country imports 70% of the fuels for its own needs, including industrial and automotive oils;
Foodstuff;
Power transformers;
Carbonates and percarbonates;
Cables;
Cement, including hydraulic cement;
Sugar and confectionary;
Refrigerators, refrigeration equipment and installations;
Special property, including military-repair services.
Nigeria is a strategic partner of Bulgaria in Africa. Bulgaria’s EU membership and Nigeria’s prestigious role, authority and influence on the continent provide new opportunities for diversification of the bilateral relations.
