With the cooperation of BCCI the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea held a meeting with the Mayor of Velingrad

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea H.E. Shin Boonam and the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov visited the Municipality of Velingrad to meet with the Mayor Dr. Kostadin Koev. They were traditionally welcomed with folk songs, bread, salt and honey, served by children in national costumes.

At the meeting, organized with the cooperation of the Chamber, representatives of the municipal administration were present, as well as representatives of the Association of Hotel and Restaurant Owners – Velingrad and Western Rhodopes and the only producer of hops in Bulgaria Asen Ivanov who has established a working partnership with Korea in the field of agriculture.

After introducing the guests to the natural resources of Velingrad, the numerous mineral springs, the favourable climate and balneology, the Mayor also shared his idea of inviting the Diplomatic Corps to celebrate the 70^th anniversary of Velingrad and its 10^th anniversary as SPA capital of the Balkans.

Ambassador Shin Boonam expressed his willingness to support the local business for the development of the Municipality and to provide assistance for various projects and ideas. It became clear that successful projects have been developed in greenhouse production of vegetables and flowers, but the opportunities for this have not been exhausted.

H.E. Shin Boonam wished Velingrad in addition to being SPA capital on the Balkans to become a world SPA capital as well.
