In Shanghai, China a business conference “Invest in Bulgaria. Expand in Europe” organized by Invest Bulgaria Agency was held. BCCI was represented at the forum by the Secretary General of the Chamber Vasil Todorov and the President of Yambol Chamber of Commerce and Industry Stoycho Stoychev.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev and Ministers Bozhidar Loukarski and Desislava Teneva delivered opening speeches.
During the conference information about investment opportunities in the sectors of agriculture and information and communication technologies in Bulgaria was presented. Successful business practices and the advantages of doing business in Bulgaria were popularized.
The representatives of BCCI also took part in the Fifth Economic and Trade Forum between China and Central and Eastern European (CEE) Countries which took place in Suzhou, China. The forum was accompanying the leaders’ meeting, the so-called “16+1 Initiative”, which was attended by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
BCCI’s Secretary General Vasil Todorov attended the discussions during the “One Belt, One Road” panel, organized by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. The panel was mainly focused on infrastructural projects. Bulgaria supports the “One Belt, One Road” initiative and wishes to fittingly take up its position in it, as a country with potential to be transport and logistics hub, benefitting from its strategic location between Europe and Asia. “Bulgaria will seek the synergy between the “16+1 Initiative” and the EU – China Connectivity Platform”, said Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova.
Stoycho Stoychev - President of Yambol Chamber of Commerce and Industry took part in the “Industrial Parks” panel, during which Bulgarian Minister of Economy Bozhidar Loukarski presented Bozhurishte economic zone, Sofia Tech Park and the Euro-Chinese economic zone Thrace - a public-private initiative, including nine municipalities, six industrial zones and three clusters in the region of Plovdiv in central Bulgaria.
