The General Assembly of the Association of Balkan Chambers took place in Athens



The Annual General Assembly of the Association of Balkan Chambers (ABC) took place on November 8th in Athens. The meeting was hosted by the President of the Union of Hellenic Chambers of Commerce Konstantinos Michalos.
 
Presidents and representatives of the Chambers of Commerce of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Montenegro participated in the event. BCCI was represented by Secretary General Vasil Todorov.
 
The General Assembly addressed the issue of both the benefits and disadvantages of the two types of membership to the chambers of commerce and industry - mandatory and voluntary, and Vasil Todorov outlined the advantages of the Bulgarian model of voluntary membership.
 
President of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia Branko Azeski expressed the need to intensify the building of the cross-border transport corridors VIII and X stressing on their importance for trade facilitation and exchange of goods between the Balkan countries.
 
On the Bulgarian side, Vasil Todorov made a presentation of the upcoming international competition in Arbitration (Pre-Moot), which will be held at the BCCI in early 2015. It will involve students from all over the world, as it is a training phase of the official competition - The Annual Willem C.
 
Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, which is held every year in October in Vienna. Chambers of the ABC were requested to disseminate information among their members and promote the participation of university teams from the Balkan countries in the event in Sofia.
 
The General Assembly ended with election of President of the Association of Balkan Chambers for 2015. The post was assumed by Branko Azeski - President of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia.
