BCCI promotes the cultural and historical heritage of Southeast Europe via products developed under SAGITTARIUS Project
In an unusual way, on the eve of the Bulgarian Education and Culture, and Slavonic Literature Day, May 24, the BCCI in partnership with 20 organisations of 7 European countries promoted the cultural and historical heritage of Southeast Europe through the developed under the SAGITTARIUS Project innovative platform for virtual tours.
“Roving Museum” mobile application, interactive educational game and promotional guide to attractive tourist sites in the region was presented by the Bulgarian team of the SAGITTARIUS Project during the final meeting on the Project in Sofia, hosted by the BCCI.
SAGITTARIUS Project is implemented and funded under the SEE Transnational Cooperation Programme with participating partners from Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia.
The meeting was opened by the BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov, who stressed on the need to develop and support the less attractive tourist destinations. The total tourist packages inclusive of cultural routes has become increasingly in demand in many of the countries in this region, he said noting that in this respect Southeast Europe has great potential and could become even more attractive as a tourist destination.
During the meeting certificates were handed to the successful graduates of the organized within the project “Online course in Cultural Heritage Management”.
The event was also attended by representatives of the tour operators, tourist associations, NGOs, academia and the media. All guests had the opportunity to test the products implemented under the project on the Chamber’s tablets.
The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry coordinates the activities of the partners from Southeast Europe, associated with the implementation of the mobile application, educational computer games and the film. The Chamber was winner for the innovative face project, which was highly rated by the Joint Technical Secretariat of the Programme in Budapest. SAGITTARIUS Project was selected as “Best practice” from among 122 projects, implemented in the programming period 2007-2013 under the Southeast Programme. All project results will be announced at the closing conference under the SEE Transnational Cooperation Programme which is going to be held on 24-25 September 2014 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
