Meeting with the Ambassador of Montenegro

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro in Bulgaria, H.E. Mr. Milomir Mihalievich, who has been in our country for several months, discussed with the President of the BCCI, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, the bilateral trade relations and cooperation.

The President of the BCCI laid emphasis on the opportunities to expand the economic cooperation in sectors like mining and metalworking, agriculture, wine production, and tourism. He presented the activities of the Chamber to the guest and expressed satisfaction with the successful cooperation with partners from Montenegro, both in the bilateral aspect and within the Association of the Balkan Chambers, Eurochambers and other international organisations.

Tsvetan Simeonov proposed assistance on the part of the BCCI in promoting tourism between Bulgaria and Montenegro.

The trade exchange between Bulgaria and Montenegro in 2012 amounted to EUR 14.89 M, whereas exports amounted to EUR 14.29 M, and imports to EUR 0.60 M.
At present, Montenegro is a trade partner with which Bulgaria is making insignificant trade exchange and has fairly underdeveloped relations in trade and economic fields. There are still poorly used opportunities between Bulgaria and Montenegro to expand the business contacts in the food industry, metallurgy, textile and furniture industries.
In the export list of Bulgarian goods predominant are mainly the finished products followed by the highly processed materials and products. As regards the imports, a certain balance is observed between the goods of low level of processing and the finished products. New to the export list is the quite tangible presence of products of the food industry and household goods. Much of the import is covered by different raw materials and iron and steel products, and agricultural goods.
