SMEs should have better access to public procurement, recommended by the EC
Tendering is a reliable source of business, but also of corrupt practices. That is why it is important to observe the rules and regulations, and to improve the access of the SMEs to the contracts in the implementation process. This is what Zornitsa Dimitrova from the EC Directorate General for Internal Market and Services highlighted during the presentation of the draft regulatory changes in the field of public procurement. She explained the outlined amendments before the representatives of the organisations of employers and the trade unions from Bulgaria during their visit in Brussels at the invitation of the European Commission. The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was represented by experts.
The Bulgarian delegation visited also the EC Directorate General for Competition where policies and data on implemented monitoring were presented. Only within three years (2010 – 2013) the European Commission has announced 23 decisions of sanctioning cartel agreements, related to 165 enterprises and the total amount of penalties reaches a bit more than EUR 7 billion.
