Without reaching a consensus, but in a constructive manner, the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation discussed the suggested amendments to taxes
The suggested by the government amendments to the tax codes have been discussed by the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation (NCTC). The meeting between the social partners and representatives of the State was open by the Head of NCTC, Zinaida Zlatanova – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice. Minister of Finance Petar Chobanov and the Social Minister Hasan Ademov also took part in the debates.
At the suggestion of the group of employers of NCTC the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was elected Deputy Chairman to the Tripartite Council. He headed the second part of the session, when the parties gave an outline to their views on the suggested tax changes.
The session of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation, in the opinion of the Finance Minister Petar Chobanov, has passed in quite a constructive manner despite the differences.
“No consensus was reached on the proposed draft bills. Different social partners grounded with arguments their positions and a settlement of compromise was adopted that by Friday all social partners shall have the opportunity to present their reasoned opinions“, said after the debates Tsvetan Simeonov.
During the discussion he expressed, on behalf of BCCI, approval to the number of proposals, including the unification of the social security returns, and the suggested amendments to the Tax and Social Insurance Procedure Code. At the same time, BCCI’s President expressed some reservations on whether the proposals for preferences are consistent with the possibilities to control and prevent illegal use of tax concessions. Tsvetan Simeonov paid particular attention to the fact that in areas of high level of unemployment the share of informal economy is also high.
