Online meeting dedicated to restoring the commercial and economic relations between Bulgaria and Cyprus after the Covid-19 pandemic





An online meeting dedicated to restoring the commercial and economic relations between Bulgaria and Cyprus after the Covid-19 pandemic was held. The event was organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the participation of the Ambassadors of the two countries, seated in Sofia and Nicosia, and over 70 representatives of companies and institutions.

The President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tsvetan Simeonov welcomed the participants in the event, and Mariana Tancheva, Director “European Integration and European Projects”, presented information about the Chamber’s cooperation with partners from Cyprus. Emphasis was placed on the services that BCCI offers for the benefit of businesses.

H.E. Mr. Marios Kountourides, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Bulgaria noted that in 2021 increase in bilateral trade was registered, which is a good indicator of the commercial and economic relations. He identified energy, innovation and new technologies as potential sectors for cooperation after the pandemic.

H.E. Mr. Lyubomir Todorov, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Cyprus, said that there the interest in cooperation between companies from both countries has been growing in the past year and that this potential should be used.

The President of the President of the Cyprus – Bulgaria Business Association Mr. Andreas Pittakas presented key data on the Cypriot economy, investment incentives, tourism and other key sectors.
