A virtual event dedicated to the promotion of business relations with India

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry took part in a virtual event dedicated to the promotion of business relations with India. The webinar organized by the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) was supported by H.E. Pooja Kapur, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia.

Sharad Kumar Saraf, President of FIEO, said that Indian companies have general information about Bulgaria and business opportunities in the country and the EU as a whole because the European Union is India’s largest economic partner. He stressed the need for deeper cooperation - both through an active honorary consul of Bulgaria in Mumbai, where the organization is headquartered, and through more events for interaction of companies from India, Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia.

Ambassador Kapur gave a thorough overview of India’s economic relations with the two Balkan countries. She pointed out several sectors with great potential for bilateral economic cooperation with Bulgaria: the pharmaceutical industry, as India is currently the "pharmacy" of the world; metal industry; information and communication technologies, food industry, perfume industry, wine production.

Tsvetan Simeonov, President of BCCI, addressed the participants in the event - more than 120 representatives of Indian companies, and said that everyone is currently facing difficulties, but BCCI sees a strong partner and friend in the face of the Ambassador of India to Bulgaria and her team. He confirmed that the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry can and will provide assistance to any foreign company that is looking for a partner in Bulgaria and wants to enter the local and European markets.

Danela Arsovska, President of the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce also greeted the participants. She expressed the opinion that although small in size, the markets of the countries in the Balkan region are important for Indian companies because they allow them to get acquainted with and adapt to the European economic environment.

Detailed presentations of business and investment opportunities in Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia were made by experts from both business organizations.

The participants in the event received answers to a number of questions related to how to find a partner, how to create a company in Bulgaria, specific characteristics of some of the sectors with potential for bilateral business cooperation.

Expect specific business offers from Indian partners in the Business Offers section of BCCI’s website.
