Ms. Sheila Camerer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa shared after her meeting with the BCCI President, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov and the Mayor of Velingrad Municipality, Mr. Ivan Labanov.
The occasion for Ms. Camerer’s visit was the yet unused mineral water springing in the region, as well as the climatic advantages that shape the potential of the resort. The resort has a total bed capacity of over 10 000 beds, meeting all European quality requirements, but the tourist attractions and the cultural-historical tourism still need to be developed.
H.Exc. Ms. Sheila Camerer visited cultural and historical sites and objects of spa-tourism in the region of Velingrad.
The statistics in Velingrad show that there are 45 two to five-star hotels, 20 guest houses and private rooms, and 3 sanatoriums. Public mineral baths are 7 and the mineral pools – 32, of which 20 are outdoor pools. There are 150 restaurants and entertainment establishments and 2 casinos in the town.
The meeting with Ambassador Sheila Camerer coincided with the nomination of Mayor Lebanov for a new term of office by an Initiative committee.
