Bulgarian – Chinese Business Forum held at BCCI



On 29 June, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a Bulgarian – Chinese Business Forum, organized in cooperation with the Shanghai Pudong Chamber of International Commerce and the Commercial Section at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sofia.

The event was officially opened by the President of BCCI – Tsvetan Simeonov who presented the Chamber’s long-standing cooperation with partners from China. He pointed out that the delegation from Shanghai is the sixth business mission from China to visit BCCI since the beginning of the year, and the business forum is a preparation for the upcoming visit of the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China - Li Keqiang in Sofia, on the occasion of the Seventh meeting of the Heads of State of the Central and Eastern European countries and China (the 16+1 initiative).

Traditionally, China is the largest trading partner of Bulgaria in Asia. The country ranks third by exports and imports to and from Bulgaria in 2017 (after Turkey and Russia). Trade turnover between Bulgaria and China grew by more than 20% in 2017 in comparison to 2016.

Min Hang, Head of the Chinese business delegation, presented the business climate in China and the opportunities for cooperation with companies from Shanghai, Pudong.

More than 60 Bulgarian companies from leading sectors of industry, such as construction, tourism, machine-building, food industry, transport and logistics, real estate, financial services and consultations, had the opportunity to meet future partners from China.
