Measures for Better Presentation of Bulgarian Business in South America

Meeting with the new Acting Head of the Bulgarian Embassy in Argentina

The President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov met with the new Acting Head of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Argentina, Valentin Modev. During the meeting opportunities to improve trade relations between Bulgaria and Argentina and to diversify the traded products were discussed.
In 2010, our country imported mainly meat for sausage production from its South American partner, the trade balance being highly negative for Bulgaria. Traditionally, trade flows between the two countries vary significantly and the volume of trade is unstable.

Mr. Simeonov and his guest agreed on several joint initiatives, which will be held in the next 12 months to assist the business. Some of these include a presentation of Bulgarian economy in Argentina by the end of 2011, a business trip in the region next year and constant exchange of information which may be useful for Bulgarian companies.

According to Mr. Modev a lot of Bulgarian citizens live in Argentina and have a very strong lobby especially in legal consultations, medicine and other areas. In addition to Argentina, Mr. Modev will be responsible for Uruguay as well.
