BCCI guarantees that collectibility of fees for the use of sidewalks by dining facilities will increase
Today, the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov participated in a meeting between the Branch Association of Restaurateurs in Sofia and the Mayor of Sofia, Ms. Yordanka Fandakova and the Chairman of the Municipal Council, Mr. Andrey Ivanov to negotiate new affordable fees for the use of sidewalk areas by cafes and restaurants in Sofia.
During the meeting, the parties agreed that in the conditions of financial crisis, finding the common interest between the business and the municipal authorities could result in higher collectibility of fees for the use of municipal sidewalk areas by dining facilities.
According to Ms. Fandakova, the experience of increasing collectibility as a result of signing an agreement with the restaurant sector, which the Municipality has gained with regard to music copyright fees, could be transferred to fees paid by sidewalk cafes and restaurants in Sofia.
The Mayor of Sofia, Ms. Fandakova ordered a working group to be formed under the Deputy Mayor Ms. Irina Savina, which in the next ten days will work out and propose to the Municipality options for new acceptable prices.
Due to the reduced turnover, restaurant owners refuse to bring out tables on the sidewalks in order to maintain some profit.
