BCCI and Iran Chamber will respond to the growing interest of the business circles from the two countries for partnership

The exchange of information, experience and good practices between BCCI and Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) is an important prerequisite for the development of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Iran. This common view was expressed at a meeting of the presidents of the two chambers - Tsvetan Simeonov and Mohsen Jalalpour. Dr. Farhad Sharif, Vice-President of ICCIMA and representatives of the Embassy of Iran in Sofia also took part in the meeting.

Tsvetan Simeonov presented the activities of BCCI, emphasizing the Chamber’s history, structure and role in the business life of the country, as well as its participation in leading international organizations.

Mohsen Jalalpour expressed his excellent assessment of BCCI’s work and said that Bulgaria and Bulgarian goods enjoy a high degree of respect and trust in Iran. He shared plans and projects for the development of a new transport corridor between the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea. The corridor will start from Iran, passing through Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, and reaching Bulgaria. The aim is to provide opportunities for efficient and reliable freight transport between the Middle East countries and Central and Eastern Europe. The project will contribute to utilizing the growing trade potential of both regions and will serve the transit traffic to and from the Far East.

The two presidents agreed on the idea that the more transport corridors there are, the higher trade connectivity of the two economies will be. Mohsen Jalalpour outlined the areas of great interest for the Iranian business – transport, energy, tourism, trade and joint manufacture of goods.

Another major topic raised by the Iranian side were customs issues, in particular facilitating the transit of goods on the Bulgarian-Turkish border. In this regard the idea was proposed to create an information exchange mechanism concerning possible problems or delays at the border and customs.

The Iran Chamber expressed interest in the Bulgarian Rose Festival and the establishment of air corridors for the transfer of tourists from the Far East.
