BCCI successfully defended the interests of its members in the latest amendments to the Labour Code
The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is pleased to announce that it has succeeded to a large extent to defend the interests of its members in the social dialogue regarding the latest amendments to the Labour Code. A significant number of the proposals regarding the Labour Code texts made and supported by BCCI were approved and introduced in the acting legislation. They were adopted with the Law on Amendment and Supplement to the Labour Code and have been in force since their promulgation in State Gazette No. 54 of 17th July 2015.
Some of the proposals include:
1. Repealing the obligation of SMEs to:
- adopt internal working regulations;
- observe the conditions for extension of the working time;
- observe the conditions for introduction of part-time work.
2. Repealing the obligations of all companies to adopt:
- annual leaves schedule;
- health and safety at work regulations.
3. Restoring the right of employers to terminate with one-month written notice employment contacts of workers who have acquired the right to pension for social insurance length of service and age.
4. Regulating the possibility for agreements to be concluded between the nationally representative employers’ organizations and trade unions for adopting of regulations to be implemented by the state.
5. Expanding the possibilities for introduction of flexible working hours while observing the restriction for 40-hour work week.
6. BCCI supported the regulation of one-day labour contracts for seasonal agricultural workers from specific sectors and more relaxed conditions for conclusion and termination of these contracts.
The adopted amendments provide an occasion for BCCI to thank the other employers’ organizations for their cooperation in defending the interests of the business community. The Chamber is also grateful to the MPs who supported the proposals for their contribution to making a more attractive Bulgarian business environment. We are expecting from Bulgarian companies new ideas for improvement of the business environment and support from our partners for their realization.
