The newly accredited Ambassador of Sudan visited BCCI

The newly accredited Ambassador of Sudan to Bulgaria H.E. Ms. Ilham I.M. Ahmed met with the President of BCCI Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov. The Commercial Attache at the Embassy of Sudan in Sofia Mr. Haitham Badreldin Khalil Ahmed also took part in the meeting. The guests were informed about the development of Bulgaria’s economy and the activities of the BCCI in the country and abroad. 
 
Ambassador Ahmed said that Bulgaria, which was one of the first countries to recognize Sudan’s independence in 1956, was a major trading partner of the African country with significant volume of bilateral trade until 1999. When Bulgaria’s priorities changed trading with Sudan became less active.  At present, sectors such as agriculture, food industry, dairy and meat-processing industries provide ample opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
 
In the course of discussion the possibility to enliven the bilateral economic cooperation was considered and specific measures were outlined. As a step in this direction the parties agreed to hold an information forum to present the Sudanese economy and opportunities for bilateral cooperation in specific sectors of economy such as tourism, agriculture and food industry. 
 
Companies that are willing to taking part in such forum in the future may declare their interest in BCCI, International Cooperation and International Organizations Directorate, e-mail: interdpt@bcci.bg to be invited with priority.
