Bulgaria is represented by Tsvetan Simeonov – President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of GS1 Bulgaria Management Board, and Christo Sodev – GS1 Bulgaria Executive Secretary. GS1 President and CEO Miguel Lopera opened the plenaries focused on today’s most important challenges affecting GS1 and its user community. High-level managers from the FMCG sector discussed how future markets would look like and what global consumers would demand.

The social and mobile internet has brought about a fundamental paradigm shift and significant cultural change to our society and the business world, this was the opinion shared among the participants in the forum, laying emphasis on the role of innovation, education and knowledge transfer in today’s world. Subject to discussion were also the pros and cons of the digital Cultural Revolution as well as the unique possibilities innovative technologies offer, pledging for a “culture of the new”.

During the forum it was noted that with more technology, tools and information, a new breed of shoppers has emerged, determined to stay in control and “win” the game of finding the best value. The discussions shared the opinion that the challenge for stores and brands is to integrate the digital shopper touchpoints consistently into an omni-channel environment.

The GS1 Strategy which has been elaborated for almost a year is of great importance. According to “Vision 2020” a priority is to increase the stability and the influence of the GS1 System; to provide tools for increasing data quality; to achieve full transparency in the supply chain; to expand standards to companies in order to enable closer relation to the end users.
Priority number one remain to be the supply chains, said the BCCI President and Chairman of the GS1 Bulgaria Management Board Tsvetan Simeonov.
