Address by the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Dear partners,
At the end of 2013 – an uneasy year for the Bulgarian business, I address you with gratitude to your good cooperation and support in our efforts to make the Bulgarian economic environment a better one.
In 2013 BCCI successfully stood up against the attempt of the state to create conditions of pressure on board members of the labor organisations by means of legislative changes. The Chamber’s firm response led to changes in some controversial legislative texts and was highly appreciated as success by the International Organisation of Employers.
For the 15th time, due to the European Economic Review, we gave the public reliable information about the expectations for the year of 2014, and the government authorities – a guide on where to focus their efforts.
With our free mobile application, developed by our team, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is now among the dozen chambers in the world providing such.
We continue our work in fighting the informal sector (http://www.vsa.bcci.bg; http://www.nea-project.bcci.bg).
We launched a mediation project which is going to give results in the next year. We are proud that after computerizing the arbitration activities we are now a wanted training centre for our colleagues from the West Balkans.
For the future we will rely on the active position of the Bulgarian entrepreneurs to improve the legislation in Bulgaria by indicating the impediments brought by unnecessary regulations. We have already drafted a long list of appropriate legislative changes that may ease the business in 2014, and after finally agreeing it with you we shall submit it before the competent authorities.
We shall take special care to keep you well informed about the upcoming legislative changes at national and European level, so that the role of the Bulgarian business to be proactive and respondent to the very process of drafting the regulations, rather than after adopting them.
Once again I thank the members of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry who continue trusting us, as success may be achieved with faith, patience and perseverance.
Let the New Year of 2014 be more peaceful, beneficial and happy!
