Two business forums were held during the business delegation in Vietnam
Bulgarian and Vietnamese businesses will work together for developing a new model for economic cooperation
A business delegation, organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, accompanied President Rosen Plevneliev during the state visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the period 28-31 October 2013. Two business forums and bilateral meetings were held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City during the visit. There was a great interest shown to the events on behalf of the Vietnamese business community.
At the business forum in Hanoi the Vice-President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Mr. Hoang Van Dung, shared the opinion that Bulgaria is an important partner for Vietnam and a door to the European market. Among the possible areas for development Mr. Hoang Van Dung identified pharmacy, IT-sector, tourism and energy.
BCCI's President – Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, highlighted the excellent relations between the two chambers stating that the first agreement between them was concluded in 1982. He underlined that BCCI serves equally well the interests of both the Bulgarian, and the foreign companies in our country. There are twelve companies of Vietnamese capital entered into the Trade Register of the Chamber, and the potential of enlarging that number is quite big.
The second forum was held in Ho Chi Minh City with the special attendance of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Rosen Plevneliev.
The Bulgarian Head of State recalled the traditionally strong positions of our country in the field of information and communication technologies in Southeast Europe and emphasized that the IT-sector creates tens of thousands of jobs in Bulgaria. “We would also like to share some of Bulgaria’s achievements in the food industry, nuclear energy, the production of medicines,” the Head of State added. He expressed optimism that the first successful relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam will be established, cultivated and developed. However, this depends on the activity of the business environment in the two countries.
The bilateral meetings between the Bulgarian business delegation and representatives of the Vietnamese companies were in the focus of the two forums. Their objective was to find a field for developing mutual businesses and projects, expanding the list of goods in the mutual trade relations, especially in terms of the goods of high added value. Real opportunities to diversify the bilateral trade are seen in the sectors of the chemical, pharmaceutical and light industries, as well as in agriculture.
The Bulgarian business delegation held a series of meetings at the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Planning and Investment in order to get acquainted with the local economy, the features and the requirements for doing business and investments in Vietnam.
